AI receptionist vs chatbot for salons: compare the workflow

· Updated October 12, 2026

"AI receptionist" and "chatbot" are labels. For a salon, compare what a product does when a customer asks a price, requests a busy time or needs a person. A label does not guarantee correct answers.

Run the same questions through each option

Give each product the same approved menu and hours. Ask about a fixed price, range and absent service. Compare the actual replies and conditions. Avoid relying on an example using a different salon.

Test English and Arabic if customers use both. A fluent answer can still quote the wrong currency or omit a consultation requirement.

Compare booking states

Ask "Can I come tomorrow at 2?" when that time is occupied in your external diary. Check whether the system collects a request, claims availability or confirms an appointment. Find out which action needs the team's approval and what calendar is actually checked.

Saponly collects requests for the team to approve. It does not automatically synchronise Fresha or Zenoti. Your team checks its diary before approving.

Compare human handoff

Ask an unlisted service question, then request a person. See where the team receives the conversation and who responds. A demo saying "I'll ask the team" is different from testing the team's workflow.

Saponly is designed to answer from approved information and hand unknown questions to the team. AI can make mistakes; inspect the replies.

Compare complete setup and cost

The owner completes their own Meta login and payment setup where required. Guided setup checks eligibility. Meta charges are separate and may apply during the trial. Saponly's 30 trial days begin after a successful live test on the salon's own eligible number.

Decide using the test result

Keep notes on incorrect answers, pending requests and handoff behaviour. The live-test checklist helps run a consistent comparison. Read the Gulf Founding offer for conditional pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Is an AI receptionist always more accurate than a chatbot?+

No. A product label is not evidence of accuracy. Test the same approved menu, booking states and human handoff in each product.

What does Saponly keep with the salon team?+

The team approves every booking request, checks any external diary and handles questions requiring a person.

Test Saponly with your own salon

US$99/month for the first 10 eligible Gulf founding salons, locked for the first 12 paid months. The standard plan is US$149/month. The 30 trial days start after a successful live test on your salon's own eligible WhatsApp number. Meta messaging charges are separate and may apply during the trial.
